Picking up our new 2010 Elkridge 5th Wheel

Friday afternoon we went to Great Escapes RV Center in Gamaliel, AR to pick up our new Elkridge 5th Wheel. Arriving at the dealership and after finishing all our paperwork we went to where our new 5th Wheel was set up in their little RV park in back of the premises where Dan went over everything we should know about the trailer. We especially had a lot to learn since we've never owned any kind of RV before...except a tent trailer and I don't think that counts.

After showing us everything we should know about hooking, unhooking, where all the switches were and lot's more, we decided to go to Mountain Home. Our first stop was to get something to eat but instead stopped at Walmart to pick up some items so we could spend the night in the RV. I had brought bedding and personal items with us but decided to get a small coffee pot and a 4 inch foam mattress topper for the rather uncomfortable looking mattress that came with the RV. They really don't put much of a mattress in these things.

Didn't get back to the RV until about 7:30 and then had to make up the bed which wasn't that easy with the foam mattress topper and everything. After that we just sat in our pretty little living room and watched the fire in the fireplace (which is great) and the one channel on the TV that we were able to get.

After a fairly good nights sleep I woke up to fresh coffee that Robert had just made in our new coffee pot and some coffee cake we bought the night before along with the two cups we bought. Then we had to wait until late afternoon while they were installing the 5th wheel hookup in the back of our truck.

About three o'clock or a little before we headed back to the house with the RV in tow. Had to go on a curvy up and down road to get to our house about a 60 or 70 mile drive. We actually live in Lead Hill on Bull Shoals Lake. Bob had a little trouble getting it parked in front of our house. Had a few tangles with some tree limbs but we made it. If you could see the road to our drive you might wonder how we actually made it with only a few tree limbs in our way. Bob spent the better part of today (Sunday) cutting down as many limbs as he could.

So....we are now ready or at least semi ready to start on a new RV adventure. Oh yes, did I mention that we have 5 inside dogs, 3 cats, and 7 llamas (not inside). We still have some planning to do where the animals are concerned.
